WATCH: ‘Squad’ Democrat Gets Drenched By Torrential Downpour Mid-Speech As Campaign Goes Off The Rails

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) found himself drenched by a torrential downpour while giving a campaign speech in the Bronx. Instead of seeking shelter under a nearby canopy, Bowman chose to remain in the open in a bid to capture the attention of the cameras and the audience.

The desperate move comes amid a tumultuous campaign season for Bowman, whose chances of winning re-election are looking increasingly bleak. According to a recent Emerson College poll, Bowman is trailing his opponent, George Latimer, by a significant 17-point margin despite outspending him. The primary election, set for Tuesday, could mark the end of Bowman’s contentious tenure in Congress.

During his speech, as the rain began to pour, Bowman opted to stand in the open, seemingly an attempt to add to the theatrics of his run for re-election. However, the move was instead interpreted as symbolic of a flailing campaign.

“If you can dedicate today, tomorrow, the next day, and Tuesday to getting people out to vote, we are going to win this election because of either one,” Bowman said in the rain. This is just the latest in a series of stunts by Bowman, who has garnered attention for his antics, including pulling a fire alarm in Congress and his outspoken anti-Israel comments.

Bowman, a member of the controversial “Squad” and known for his provocative actions and rhetoric, was in the Bronx alongside fellow Squad member, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), for a profanity-laced rally over the weekend. The event, aimed at energizing the duo’s far-left base, underlined the divisions within the Democratic Party and the challenges faced by its more progressive members.

His alignment with the Squad, which has often been at odds with more moderate Democrats, has also alienated some voters.
