WATCH: Vivek Calls On EVERY GOP Candidate To Co-Sign Vow To Pardon Trump
Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy, speaking outside of a Miami courthouse where former President Donald Trump faces arraignment Tuesday, called on his challengers to sign an open letter promising to pardon Trump if elected. He added that all Republican presidential candidates should support his Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request that the Biden administration turn over all written and verbal correspondence related to the decision by Special Counsel Jack Smith to charge Trump with 37 counts of mishandling documents and obstruction of justice.
With fiery passion, Ramaswamy waved a copy of his FOIA request as he angled to squeeze media coverage of Trump’s arraignment for every opportunity.
“This is my commitment. On January 20th, 2025, if I’m elected the next U.S. President, to pardon Donald J. Trump for these offenses in this federal case, and I have challenged — I have demanded — that every other candidate in this race either sign this commitment to pardon on January 20, 2025 or else to explain why they are not,” Ramaswamy thundered.

The upstart candidate, cheered on by spectators, claimed he and other Republican candidates for president are facing extreme pressure from party donors to “stay away” from Trump’s indictment. Not going to happen, Ramaswamy stated.
“The donor class has been calling every Republican candidate and telling us to stay away from this, not to touch it from a 10-foot pole. Keep your distance away from President Trump, that’s what the donor class is telling us. That’s what they’re telling the other candidates. I refuse to abide by being a disciple of the donor class.”
WATCH:
Earlier Tuesday the Ramaswamy campaign filed a FOIA request seeking access to all documented interactions between President Joe Biden, Special Counsel Jack Smith, and U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland related to a case where President Trump faces 37 counts and is expected at an arraignment to plead not guilty and have the case dismissed. President Biden has maintained he had nothing to do with green-lighting the prosecution, though the Justice Department falls under the authority of the White House. Already, Republicans are champing at the bit to claim hypocrisy given the DOJ’s refusal to investigate increasing developments around a possible Russian asset who may have bribed Biden as vice president to benefit his son’s business dealings in Ukraine.
