REPORT: DOJ, Not Weiss, Controlled Hunter Biden Investigation’s And Charges
An attorney for IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley claimed that the Department of Justice in DC rather than David Weiss, the US Attorney for the District of Delaware, ran the Hunter Biden investigation. Shapley and his team were removed from their investigation into the president’s son after coming forward to Congress to inform them that Biden’s Department of Justice had interfered with their probe.
Mark Lytle, the whistleblower’s attorney, commented, “After our client offered whistleblower testimony to Congress, Lisa Monaco’s righthand man, Bradley Weinsheimer, scheduled a meeting with Mr. Biden’s defense counsel to appeal over the head of Mr. Weiss in a way that was totally at odds with the narrative that David Weiss was acting independently.”
He then added, “The Deputy Attorney General’s office then claimed to us it was genuinely interested in addressing the whistleblower’s allegations, without disclosing its meeting with Hunter Biden’s lawyers. We now know that shortly after that meeting Weiss’s assistant [Lesley Wolf] offered to end the case with no guilty plea at all on the very same day that DOJ removed our client and his entire IRS team from the case.”
“Mr. Weinsheimer’s tone had taken a dramatic turn from claiming interest in the whistleblower disclosures to being completely unwilling to engage and referring us to Mr. Weiss,” concluded Mr. Lytle. Weinsheimer is the associate deputy attorney general and a subordinate to Lisa Monaco, a political appointee of Biden.
Mr. Weiss was earlier this month given special counsel status by Biden’s Department of Justice. Yet, many observe that this elevation in status was more of a desire to prevent Congress from seeking pesky details about Weiss’s investigation into Hunter Biden. Weiss also has a long history of working with the Biden family.
To that end, Representative Jason Smith (R-MO), chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, wrote, “IRS whistleblowers exposed how the Biden Justice Department slow-walked & interfered in the Hunter Biden investigation. Now, Biden’s DOJ may be stonewalling an investigation into those allegations.”

In a letter to Michael Horowitz, the Inspector General of the Department of Justice, Smith wrote, “IRS whistleblowers made protected disclosures to Congress regarding DOJ’s investigation of Hunter Biden. Specifically, the IRS whistleblowers testified that the DOJ’s investigation was purposely slow-walked and subjected to improper and politically motivated interference. Further, the DOJ and IRS have reportedly engaged in unlawful whistleblower retaliation against the IRS employees. Their testimony raised serious questions about the federal government’s commitment to evenhanded justice.”
“The DOJ appears to be continuing to sacrifice its professional responsibility to cover for the President’s son—and perhaps, the President himself,” the letter added.
