BREAKING: Hunter Biden To Testify Before Oversight Committee

In the clearest sign yet that Hunter Biden has grown more defiant about his legal woes, his attorneys have indicated that he is ready to testify before the Republican-controlled House Oversight Committee as soon as next week.

The development, first reported by Punchbowl News, stems from a letter sent by Abbe Lowell, Hunter’s new attorney, expressing a desire to clear the air about allegations that his client used his position as a lobbyist on behalf of foreign corporations to ensnare his father, President Joe Biden, in lawbreaking behaviors that enriched him and other members of the family.

“Mr. Chairman, we take you up on your offer,” Lowell wrote to Rep. James Comer (R-KY). “Accordingly, our client will get right to it by agreeing to answer any pertinent and relevant question you or your colleagues might have, but— rather than subscribing to your cloaked, one-sided process—he will appear at a public Oversight and Accountability Committee hearing.

“From all the individuals you have requested depositions or interviews, all you will learn is that your accusations are baseless. However, the American people should see that for themselves,” concluded Lowell.

Last month, Comer issued a subpoena to Hunter Biden demanding he appear for closed-door testimony about his knowledge of transactions that purport to show millions of dollars funneled from corporations in China, Ukraine, and elsewhere through a series of shell companies. By demanding a public hearing, Hunter is effectively banking on a win in the court of public opinion, a strategy echoed by some of his supporters.

According to POLITICO, Kevin Morris, an L.A.-based attorney working with Lowell to represent Hunter, told associates recently, “We want to go on offense because we know we can win. That’s the whole point.”

Republicans have zeroed in on a $40,000 loan repayment to President Biden which came from some of the profits earned by Hunter. The payment was made by Sara Biden, wife of the president’s brother James Biden who has also received a subpoena to testify about the payment.

The development comes as part of House Republicans’ impeachment inquiry into the president as they seek to tie him to any wrongdoing that would support a full-scale impeachment proceeding. President Biden has denied any involvement in illegal activities, but he has also been caught making false statements as when he alleged that Hunter never made any money from Chinese entities. The probe has “consumed” Biden as his allies fret over Hunter refusing to keep his head down and avoid damaging the Biden reelection campaign.

As one friend of Hunter said of Democrats, “Intentionally or not, they’re betting on the political expediency of sacrificing Hunter.”
