Democrat Whistleblower Joseph Ziegler Accuses DOJ Of Obstruction In Hunter Biden Probe: ‘No One Is Above The Law’

On Wednesday former Special Agent Joseph Ziegler, who recently stepped forward as the whistleblower on the IRS investigation of Hunter Biden, detailed what he believed to be damning instances of obstruction of justice from the Department of Justice (DOJ). Ziegler accused the DOJ of blocking and curtailing the IRS investigation in his opening statement before Congress.

“I sit here before you not as a hero or a victim, but as a whistleblower compelled to disclose the truth,” Ziegler began by acknowledging the potential repercussions of his decision to come forward.

“I’m risking my career, my reputation, and my casework outside of the investigation we are here to discuss.” Ziegler indicated that his choice to speak out was prompted by what he saw as repeated attempts to obstruct the IRS’s efforts.

“I ultimately made the decision to come forward after what I believe were multiple attempts at blowing the whistle in the Internal Revenue Service. No one should be above the law, regardless of your political affiliation.”

A proud member of the LGBT community, Ziegler expressed hope that his actions might inspire others to do what’s right, despite the potential personal cost. “We should always do the right thing, no matter how painful the process might be,” he said, drawing parallels between his current struggle and the difficulty he faced when coming out.

However, Ziegler’s findings went beyond his personal journey, painting a picture of obstruction within the DOJ itself. He claimed that the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, who was ostensibly in charge of the Hunter Biden investigation, was “constantly hamstrung, limited, and marginalized by DOJ officials as well as other U.S. attorneys.” For Ziegler, this obstruction made it impossible for the Attorney to exercise the powers usually afforded to a special counsel.

Ziegler, pointing to public documents, expressed concerns that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, may not face consequences for what he alleges are “improper deductions for prostitutes, sex clubs, and his adult children’s tuition” on Biden’s 2018 tax return.

Investigations into Hunter Biden’s 2018 tax returns revealed inconsistencies between his book statements and deductions. IRS employees’ testimony during a past Ways and Means investigation presented an account of dubious deductions, including payments to non-existent employees and a “West Coast assistant” identified as a prostitute.

Notably, an $18,000 wire transfer divided into wages and a sex club deposit sparked controversy. Hunter allegedly decided which items to deduct personally, with accountants asking him to sign a letter confirming all income and deductions were accurately reported.

Whistleblowers have claimed the Biden Department of Justice (DOJ) interfered in the criminal investigation into Hunter. According to their testimony, the DOJ frequently delayed proceedings, lacked transparency, and defended Hunter against tax liability claims despite clear evidence.

Allegations of the DOJ providing preferential treatment to Hunter Biden and repeated attempts by the U.S. Attorney of Delaware, David Weiss, to bring charges against him were voiced again during today’s hearing. Testimony suggested a campaign to “delay, divulge and deny” by the DOJ and Defense Council, leading to significant internal obstacles for IRS investigators.

Earlier today, House Oversight Committee Chairman, James Comer, claimed that the family put their interests before the American people. He mentioned the establishment of over 20 shell companies by the Bidens during Joe Biden’s vice presidency, through which they allegedly received over $10 million from foreign entities.
