WATCH: Dershowitz Urges Judge In Hunter Biden Plea Deal To Probe Its Politicized Nature

If you are skeptical about the pitch that Hunter Biden’s plea deal is a routine matter then you are not alone. An eminent legal authority such as Alan Dershowitz also has questions and thinks that the judge in the case ought to do a bit more probing before deciding what to do about the plea deal. Dershowitz, a former Harvard law professor, appeared before Fox News‘s Hannity show to express such concerns that the plea deal was politically motivated rather than motivated by the law.

Dershowitz said “[T]he judge who is sentencing Hunter Biden and who has to approve of the plea deal, must call Garland, must call Weiss, must call these six witnesses [who according to IRS whistleblowers can corroborate their claim that there was political interference to get the sweetheart deal], and must say, look, Hunter Biden’s lawyers, we know you want the deal to go through. Justice Department, we know you want the deal to go through. But I’m a judge, I represent the people of the United States of America.”

“The law provides that a judge need not accept a plea bargain agreed to by both sides if there is a problem here, and if he concludes, for example, that Weiss was denied the ability to investigate beyond Delaware, then the deal’s off,” stated Dershowitz.

“Because the deal probably ends any possibility of prosecution in the District of Columbia or in Los Angeles, and if those were foreclosed in violation of what Garland said would be available to Weiss, then the deal’s off, and you have to go back to square one, you have to conclude the investigation, and then you decide whether or not to make a plea bargain. Right now, the judge should not accept this plea bargain without hearing from Garland, Weiss, and the six witnesses,” explained Dershowitz.

The testimony by IRS whistleblowers was that their investigation into Hunter Biden was curated by political bias and interference from the top. As one whistleblower, Gary Shapley, put it, “the Delaware U.S. Attorney’s Office, Department of Justice Tax, and Department of Justice provided preferential treatment and unchecked conflicts of interest in an important and high-profile investigation of the President’s son, Hunter Biden.”

One constitutional and tax lawyer, Robert Barnes, tweeted that “Nothing about the #HunterBiden plea deal complies with DOJ custom or official policy, and, in fact, violates it at every stage, as the whistleblowers detail in the report disclosed today.”

Barnes further harped on his experience in that legal field. He tweeted “As a criminal tax lawyer for a near quarter-century, I confirm how rare & extraordinary the #HunterBiden plea deal is. Indeed, the deal violates DOJ Tax official policy, where Biden’s DOJ prohibit prosecutors from even offering this deal to people who did far less than Hunter.”

Curiously though albeit predictably, Democrats are silent about their favorite mantra that no one is above the law here.
