NEW: Iran’s ‘Misfunctioning’ Top Brass In Total Disarray As US, Israel Hammer Infrastructure
Iran’s regime is reeling as missiles fly and its leadership structure crumbles, with a growing power vacuum at the top following the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, according to a new report.
Mojtaba Khamenei was tapped to replace his father after the elder Khamenei was killed in a Feb. 28 Israeli strike. But questions are mounting about whether he’s even capable of taking control.
The younger Khamenei was reportedly wounded in the same attack, though accounts of his condition vary widely. He has issued statements but has yet to appear in public, according to The Times of Israel.
Analysts say that absence is telling.
Kobi Michael, a defense analyst at the Institute for National Security Studies and the Misgav Institute, described Mojtaba Khamenei as “an empty entity,” according to Fox News.
He warned that the regime is effectively adrift.
“Mojtaba Khamenei does not appear in public, but we also have reliable information that he does not control or lead the regime or what has been left of the regime. The current Iranian leadership is broken, confused, and is almost misfunctioning,” he said.

Details surrounding the strike that killed the elder Khamenei paint a chaotic picture. A report from The Telegraph said Mojtaba was with his father when an Israeli missile targeted their quarters but stepped out moments before impact.
Meanwhile, Israel’s ongoing campaign targeting top Iranian figures appears to be taking a heavy toll.
Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was killed in a recent strike, Israel said Wednesday, according to The Washington Post. A day earlier, Israeli officials announced the deaths of Ali Larijani, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, and Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the Basij paramilitary force.
Michael said the campaign is no accident, but part of a calculated strategy to cripple Tehran from the inside.
“This is not a new phase, but a continuing effort and a very successful and impressive one and a crucial component of the strategy meant to weaken the Iranian regime,” Michael told Fox News.

“This is to the degree that it will not be able to reconstitute itself and/or to become again a severe threat and destabilizing player in the broader Middle East,” he added.
He argued that the broader goal goes beyond military wins and aims at regime change from within.
“At the very same time, by weakening the regime and paralyzing its capacities generally speaking and its domestic control specifically, the U.S. and Israel are facilitating the required conditions for the Iranian people to topple the regime,” Michael said.
“This is the ultimate victory in their eyes, and the route to this destination is that they are trying to increase any damage wherever they can.”
