NEW: US Pounds Key Iranian Site With Bunker-Buster Bombs
President Donald Trump released dramatic footage Tuesday showing U.S. forces hammering an Iranian ammunition depot with 2,000-pound bunker-buster bombs, triggering a massive explosion.
The video, posted to Truth Social, captures the moment “penetrator munitions” slammed into a target in Isfahan, a city home to one of Iran’s largest nuclear facilities. A U.S. official told The Wall Street Journal the weapons are designed to rip through hardened, underground sites.
Thick black smoke billowed over the city in the aftermath of the strike.
The same official said U.S. forces have used a significant number of bunker-buster bombs in repeated attacks on Isfahan, which was also targeted during last summer’s 12-day war.
Satellite data from NASA tracking fires indicates the blasts occurred near Mount Soffeh, an area believed to house military positions.

The strikes come as pressure builds on the Trump administration to wind down the conflict and stabilize global energy markets. Trump escalated the rhetoric Monday, warning Iran its energy infrastructure could be wiped out if a deal is not reached “shortly.”

“Great progress has been made but, if for any reason a deal is not shortly reached, which it probably will be, and if the Hormuz Strait is not immediately ‘Open for Business,’ we will conclude our lovely ‘stay’ in Iran by blowing up and completely obliterating all of their Electric Generating Plants, Oil Wells and Kharg Island (and possibly all desalinization plants!), which we have purposefully not yet ‘touched’,” he wrote on Truth Social.
Iran has accused the U.S. and Israel of striking the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Trump has also said U.S. forces hit Kharg Island, a key oil hub in the Strait of Hormuz, earlier this month.
At the same time, Trump said negotiations are moving forward with Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf, even as Tehran denies any talks are taking place and accuses Washington of using diplomatic claims to mask troop deployments.
U.S. officials say thousands of additional troops have poured into the Middle East, part of a buildup that could give Trump the option of launching a ground assault, even as he signals a deal could be near.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told Newsmax he does not want to “put a schedule on” ending the war.
Behind the scenes, Trump has reportedly told aides he may be willing to wind down the U.S. military campaign even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed.
Back home, the president is facing mounting political pressure to end the conflict before the November midterms. The war has already sent oil prices to a four-year high and left 13 U.S. service members dead, with 303 wounded in just over a month.
