‘Succession’ Star Brian Cox Channels Logan Roy, SLAMS Woke Culture: ‘Truly Awful’

In a recent conversation with British journalist Piers Morgan, Brian Cox, the celebrated actor of HBO’s hit series “Succession,” decried the prevailing “woke” and “shaming” culture, attributing it predominantly to millennials.

Cox, an industry veteran known for his candid remarks, shared his concerns about the increasing propensity for public shaming, especially on social media platforms. “And the shaming culture … I don’t know where it comes from,” Cox stated.

The term “woke” has been increasingly used to describe a perceived awareness of social and political “injustices.” Many like Cox see it as contributing to a culture of excessive sensitivity and cancel culture.

The “Succession” star questioned the authority behind the public shaming trend, describing it as nebulous and predominantly fueled by the millennial generation. “Who are the arbiters of this shaming? And it’s very hard to pin them down. It turns out it’s usually a bunch of millennials,” Cox said. Morgan then butted in to ask, “And who gave them the halos?”

In addition to criticizing the “woke” culture, Cox expressed concerns about the negative influence of social media, arguing that it often inflames situations rather than providing helpful solutions. “Are things worse now, or is our perception of life worse because of things like social media inflaming everything?” he pondered.

Cox seems to be suggesting that while millennials might feel justified in their actions because they believe previous generations have “screwed it up,” their approach stems “from the wrong principle” and “comes from the wrong place.”

Cox starred as entertainment and media tycoon Logan Roy in the HBO hit series.
