‘Borders On Treason’: Comer Details Evidence That Biden Family Sold Influence To Communist China

House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) detailed the evidence pointing to an influence peddling scheme involving the Biden family and the Chinese government during an appearance on Newsmax Thursday evening. “It borders on treason, in my opinion,” Comer said.

The estimated haul paid to numerous Biden family members through foreign shell corporations was estimated to value between $20 and $30 million last week. Now, Comer believes the committee will be able to expose upwards of $40 million that was paid to the Biden family in exchange for influence.

Newsmax host Rob Schmitt asked Comer if any of these payments were benefitting the Chinese Communist Party or other adversarial countries. “I think so, I think they all were,” Comer said. “The thing that stands in my mind is, one of the first acts Joe Biden made as president of the United States was he cancelled a thing called the China initiative,” he went on to explain.

Comer detailed how the FBI had been investigating theft of intellectual property from American universities dating back to the Obama Administration. Federal investigators identified numerous Chinese nationals who entered the country legally, registered as students, then proceeded to send intellectual property and other sensitive information back to China.

“One of the first things Joe Biden did was he ended [the China initiative], he ended it, and he said it was on the basis of racial profiling and discrimination,” Comer explained. “The only country that benefited from that would be the Chinese Communist Party.”

The House Oversight Chair also pointed to a recently disclosed WhatsApp message sent by Hunter Biden to a Chinese business partner, Henry Zhao. Hunter’s Biden’s business partner was working for the Chinese energy conglomerate CEFC Energy, which has ties to the Chinese government, when the message was sent.

Hunter Biden explicitly stated that his father was in the room when he threatened to “destroy” Zhao if payments were not made.

“The whole business model for the Bidens with CEFC was to try to help China gain access, to reduce the barriers of entry for China,” Comer said. “Because after China bought into the Smithfield food processing facility, the United States government really ramped up the barriers to entry for China.”

“So one of the things, and you’re gonna hear somebody talk about this in a deposition very soon, that the Bidens agreed to accept money from China to help them invest in the United States,” he continued.

Schmitt remarked that the dealings seemingly amount to “traitorous behavior,” which Comer agreed with.

“Well first of all, they’re an unregistered foreign agent because they’re clearly serving as essentially a lobbyist for China. And that’s a huge violation, that’s one of the things the IRS whistleblower said that the Bidens could have been prosecuted of, especially the president’s son, was being an unregistered foreign agent,” Comer said.

“It borders on treason, in my opinion,” the House Oversight Committee chair went on to add.
