WATCH: ‘Morning Joe’ Panel Hilariously Melts Down Over Trump’s RNC Takeover

The “Morning Joe” cast had a collective meltdown over the news that a top lawyer to former President Donald Trump has been appointed senior legal counsel for the Republican National Committee.

Wlllie Geist kicked off the roundtable discussion with news about the hiring of Christina Bobb, who will head up the RNC’s efforts on election integrity through the 2024 elections. Previously, Geist claimed, Bobb was central to perpetrating “lies” by President Trump that the 2020 election was stolen and that a slate of alternate delegates could be appointed by former Vice President Mike Pence during Congress’ certification on January 6th, 2021.

Geist added that Bobb is “known for playing a key role in Trump’s classified documents case,” allegedly telling Justice Department officials she had “no knowledge of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.”

He then kicked the conversation over to his guests who enthusiastically noted that Bobb herself was sued by Dominion Voting Systems over allegations that she defamed the company and its voting equipment used in the 2020 election in key battleground states where President Joe Biden narrowly prevailed.

“She was a big part of the effort to try to overturn the 2020 election,” lamented one guest. “She was a key member of the fake elector scheme!… She is one of the fundamental characters in the plot.”

Calling it “almost trolling” to appoint Bobb to the top RNC legal post, Geist asked another guest about the irony of appointing her to lead the RNC’s election integrity efforts.

“It’s a perfect fit for the times they have created,” he replied, saying Trump has worked for over a decade to “preach anger, fear, and lies, a toxic combination.”

Former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MS) added that she was “surprised that so many people were ignoring what is as plain as the nose on their face,” again referencing Trump’s allegations that the 2020 election was stolen from him.

“He is a marketer of grievance with bold lies on a repetitive loop,” she said.

The repetitive loop may in fact be happening at MSNBC where guests like Colorado’s Democratic secretary of state have claimed that the Supreme Court was wrong to rule that states cannot deny President Trump the right to appear on the ballot while others go full tilt, saying Trump should “die in prison” or “be shot.”

Bobb’s appointment, which came shortly after Trump ally Michael Whatley was elected to chair the RNC, is part of an effort to now integrate the former president’s campaign with the GOP in order to align all strategy, fundraising, and communications decisions. While the RNC has struggled in recent years to raise funds, President Trump’s support of Whatley and Bobb will likely encourage his supporters to begin giving again to the cash-strapped party.
