WATCH: Brian Kemp Commits To Supporting Trump If Nominated In 2024
Georgia Governor Brian Kemp (R) says he is committed to the Republican presidential ticket to matter what — and that includes having former President Donald Trump as the nominee.
Governor Kemp, who famously feuded with President Trump following the outcome of the 2020 election, told CNN reporter Kaitlan Collins that “I will almost certainly be supporting a Republican nominee to beat Joe Biden.”

Collins followed up to claim that Trump asked Kemp to call a special session of the Georgia legislature and overturn the results of the election, asking the governor if he would still be comfortable after those interactions. Governor Kemp, speaking about the 2020 fallout, framed things differently.
“He was mad at me, I was not mad at him. I told him exactly what I could and couldn’t do when it came to the election and I followed the law and the Constitution. And as I’ve said before that’s a lot bigger than Donald Trump, that’s a lot bigger than me, that’s a lot bigger than the Republican Party, and that’s what I’m gonna continue to do,” Gov. Kemp said.
However, those disagreements would not stop Kemp from doing everything he can to show President Biden the exit next year.
“I believe anybody running right now as a Republican right now would be better than what we’re seeing with the Biden-Harris administration,” Kemp added, saying the next president will probably pick a Supreme Court justice and need to have a stronger hand in standing up to international adversaries.
Governor Kemp’s fall into line was perhaps inevitable given the groundswell of support for President Trump among Republicans. All major polls have shown that the 45th president enjoys a 30 to 40-point advantage over his rivals for the Republican presidential nomination. Any Republican who risks standing up to President Trump in that environment does so at their own political peril.
Closer to home for Kemp, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has been outspoken in her support for President Trump, frequently defending him on cable news and laying out plans by House Republicans to defund the investigation into the former president’s handling of classified documents.
