JUST IN: Federal Judge Rules For Trump, Strikes Down Democrats’ 2024 Agenda
Former President Donald Trump remains undefeated in attempts by opponents to keep him off state ballots in next year’s elections.
On Monday, a federal judge in Rhode Island ruled that President Trump is entitled to appear on the 2024 ballot after finding that John Anthony Castro, a Texas-based Republican candidate for president, lacked legal standing to bring the challenge. The decision tracks with one earlier this month in New Hampshire which also slapped down Castro for attempting to deny Trump a fair and free election.
Castro, whose quixotic bid has earned him virtually nothing, failed to prove he was a “direct and current competitor at the time that he filed his complaint,” according to U.S. District Judge John J. McConnell. “Castro makes no attempt to demonstrate that he is actually competing with Trump for votes and contributions,” making him ineligible to claim that he is injured by President Trump appearing on the state’s ballot.
The former president’s campaign happily touted the news in a press release.
“President Trump remains undefeated in beating back these spurious claims,” campaign spokesman Steven Cheung said in a statement.
“The American people have the unassailable right to vote for the candidate of their choosing at the ballot box, something the Democrats and their allies driving these cases clearly disagree with. President Trump believes the American voters, not the courts, should decide who wins next year’s elections and we urge a swift dismissal of all such remaining bogus ballot challenges.”

The case, one of at least six to challenge President Trump’s eligibility, asserted that he engaged in “insurrection” by allegedly invoking violence during the January 6th, 2021 riots at the Capitol. The president’s attorneys have argued that Section 3 of the 14th Amendment, which was written to prevent former Confederate sympathizers with holding office following the Civil War, does not apply to him.
Across the country, President Trump has prevailed in federal courts in Florida, Rhode Island, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, and New Hampshire, all cases which the U.S. Supreme Court has also declined to hear. At the same time, his support among voters has grown as have sentiments that the Biden Justice Department and allies are weaponizing the nation’s court systems in a bid to stop Trump from retaking the White House. The latest polls show Trump besting Biden in five of six swing states and clawing deep into territory among Black, independent, and young voters, all critical blocs that Biden must shore up if he is to win a second term.
