Stephen A. Smith Predicts DOJ Indictment Will Only Boost Trump: ‘They Can’t Beat Him Legitimately!’

Legendary sports broadcaster Stephen A. Smith panned efforts by the Biden administration to charge former President Donald Trump with seven counts including obstruction of justice, arguing the case will only boost the former president’s chances of retaking the White House in 2024.

Speaking Thursday night with former CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, Smith delivered a fiery monologue about Democrats weaponizing the nation’s courts to bring down a leading presidential contender who can’t be beaten on Election Day.

“When it comes down to it, you’re going to have people sitting up there on his side and saying they can’t beat him legitimately. And it’s going to add momentum to his argument that they’re exhausting themselves with doing everything they can to prevent him from being the Republican nominee because they can’t beat him,” Smith said.

Smith has been outspoken in his criticisms of President Biden. After watching the president take a recent spill while handing out diplomas at an Air Force graduation, Smith said plainly that Biden is too old to meet the demands of the toughest job in the world.

“You’re trying to tell me that Biden is going to be 82 years old in 2024, in all likelihood running for reelection, and y’all can’t find someone other than Trump,” Smith asked. “You have any idea how embarrassing that is? It’s embarrassing.”

His current comments do not mean that Smith is necessarily supporting Trump in 2024. He detailed his past relationship with former President Donald Trump while admitting he did not vote to reelect his one-time friend. In 2015, before Trump became the Republican frontrunner for the presidency, Smith encouraged Black voters to support the Republican Party the following year. In recent months, he has called it “embarrassing” that Republicans can’t find an alternative to Trump to take on the badly damaged Biden.

The odds are stacked against President Biden in his reelection should he face his former rival. Black voters are abandoning the president by wide margins compared to 2020, a sentiment seen in a recent video clip that went viral for its incendiary mocking of the octogenarian.
