WATCH: MTG Makes Hilarious Off-The-Cuff Remark During Chaotic House Hearing

Published

on

In Tuesday’s chaotic House hearing, a sharp exchange unfolded between Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) and star collegiate swimmer Riley Gaines. Lee accused Gaines of “transphobic bigotry” for opposing the participation of transgender women (biological men) in women’s sports.

Gaines clapped back at Rep. Lee, suggesting that if her stance made her transphobic, then by that logic, Rep. Lee could be considered a misogynist.

The situation escalated when Rep. Lee sought to have Gaines’ words formally stricken from the record, leading to a brief suspension of the committee proceedings. Amidst the heated debate, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was heard making an off-the-cuff remark, adding a humorous twist to the tense atmosphere.

“Madam Chair, excuse me, I move to have the gentlewoman’s words taken down… she’s engaging in personalities.” Rep. Lee accused Gaines of making personal comments about another member of the House, a practice that is generally discouraged and can be considered a breach of decorum.

“Can I just ask how it’s fair to be called transphobic?” Gaines responded.

Greene then hilariously chimed in, “I would say men disguising themselves as women are engaging in personalities.” MTG’s comment can be heard at the 1:30 mark.
