WATCH: Trump Sounds Off On Hunter Biden Charges, Slams Two-Tiered DOJ
Former President Donald Trump offered his thoughts Monday night on the criminal charges brought against Hunter Biden over falsified tax returns and a firearms charge, lamenting the lack of mainstream media coverage and decrying the two-tiered justice system he said benefits the son of President Joe Biden.
“It’s the most corrupt administration in the history of this country, there has never been anything like it. Millions and millions of dollars paid to the family and Joe, and it’s a disgrace and the media doesn’t pick it up. You pick it up, and Newsmax has been great, actually… but nobody’s picking it up, they just don’t want to talk about it,” said President Trump.
WATCH:
Hunter Biden, who has been under investigation by the Internal Revenue Service since 2018, last week reached an agreement with prosecutors that will see the embattled first son admit his guilt over two misdemeanor tax fraud charges and one felony charge of possessing a firearm while using a controlled substance. As part of the plea deal, Hunter Biden will be sent to a pre-trial diversion program which allows him to avoid prison time.
President Trump has previously spoken out against the deal reached by prosecutors, posting on Truth Social, “Wow! The corrupt Biden DOJ just cleared up hundreds of years of criminal liability by giving Hunter Biden a mere “traffic ticket.” Our system is BROKEN!”
The former president’s latest comments reference allegations against President Biden that he accepted a bribe from Ukrainian officials which will continue to dog his long past his son’s case. House Republicans are continuing to call witnesses as they attempt to substantiate a witness form from the FBI which contained the original allegation, and Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) has indicated he plans to call for testimony from Justice Department officials he said obstructed the government’s investigation into Hunter Biden. Emails obtained from President Biden’s time as vice president show that Hunter Biden and his business associates were keeping the Obama administration abreast of their latest overseas business deals, giving the elder Biden plenty of advance notice about his son’s activity.
