POLL: Trump Now Leads Biden In EVERY Swing State

Published

on

Virtually every swing state across the nation is now being dominated by former President Donald Trump, who has surpassed President Joe Biden by sizable margins in what will be seven of the most closely-contested battlegrounds next year.

A general election poll conducted by Bloomberg and Morning Consult found the former president and Republican frontrunner leading Biden by an average of 4.5 percent across Wisconsin, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Nevada, North Carolina, and Arizona. The poll, which surveyed more than 4,900 voters between November 27th and December 1st, carries a margin of error of just plus or minus 1 percent.

All of these states, with the exception of North Carolina, went for President Biden three years ago.

The results build on previous polls showing President Trump pulling away in a general election against a badly wounded incumbent who is bogged down both at home by a sluggish economy and abroad by multiple wars. Some of the Democratic Party’s key voter demographics, including women and voters of color, have significantly increased their support for President Trump who now enjoys more backing from Black Americans than any Republican presidential candidate since the Civil Rights era.

In Michigan, home to the nation’s largest automobile manufacturers, the effects of President Biden’s aggressive push to electrify vehicles has run headfirst into resistance among auto worker unions who feel his policies will shutter production plants and eliminate jobs. Sensing an opening, President Trump skipped the GOP’s second debate, instead giving a speech before union members as he petitioned for their support. A longtime home-state Congresswoman, Debbie Dingell (D-MI), has publicly warned President Biden that her state is purple, not blue, and he should be spending more time courting her constituents.

Georgia, a state that has blued its hue in recent elections, is home to a Democratic prosecutor who has garnered national headlines for charging President Trump with attempting to overturn the state’s 2020 election results. The blowback has prompted diverse crowds to cheer along his motorcade routes as he appears for court hearings, and post-indictment polls among GOP voters show that his chances of clinching his party’s nomination are all but assured.

Both President Biden and White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre have snapped at reporters for asking about his trailing poll numbers and the large majority of Americans who disapprove of his job performance. During a recent appearance on CNN, KJP encouraged Americans to “watch” President Biden in action before passing judgment on his reelection campaign. The retort prompted laughter from host Jake Tapper.
